About

Residential schools is a part of Canada’s past that many would like to turn back time and erase the pain and suffering.  It is a difficult part of Canada’s past.  However, it is very important as teachers to recognize the understanding that needs to come out of the history of residential schools.  A understanding of residential schools is essential for moving on and accepting the effects of colonization, as a country will need to help people affected by residential schools find educational support and healing.

This blog was created for teachers to explore how to introduce and teach about residential schools in a middle years classroom.  Residential schools is a theme that often goes missed in classrooms because many teachers are worried about giving the students misleading information because of the difficult subject matter.  However, this blog provides teaching resources to introduce and teach about residential schools, it will include a couple interactive lesson plans that teachers can use and adapt to their classroom needs.
